In a previous blog post, I mentioned how one of my patio cleaning jobs turned out exceptionally well, leading the same customer to ask me to clean their driveway as well. While working on it, their neighbour saw the results and decided to book my service too. This video is about that job.

As you can see, this is a block-paved driveway. While it wasn’t heavily stained or covered in dirt, the cleaning process was still quite challenging due to its location on a steep slope. Working on such surfaces requires extra care and effort to ensure a thorough and even clean.

After discussing the details with the client, we agreed on a suitable time, and I arrived on schedule to carry out the work. Fortunately, the weather was excellent, making the job much smoother and more efficient.

The Cleaning Process

As shown in the video, I started with a high-pressure wash using my industrial-grade cleaning machine. This method effectively removed moss, dirt, algae, and all other surface contaminants, restoring the driveway’s original colour.

Our Gentle Yet Effective Cleaning Approach

To meet the customer’s request, we implemented a careful and strategic cleaning process:

1. Pre-Treatment with a Specialised Cleaning Solution
   Before pressure washing, we applied a professional-grade cleaning detergent designed to break down dirt, moss, and algae without damaging the bricks. This helps to loosen contaminants, making them easier to remove.

Last Thursday afternoon, I received a call from a lovely elderly lady enquiring about cleaning her driveway. During our phone conversation, I mentioned that I was already working in her area and could provide a quote for her patio cleaning later that day. She agreed, and upon arriving at her property, I was warmly greeted as she showed me her patio.

She explained that it hadn’t been cleaned in over 15 years. Although weedkiller had been used, the block paving had never undergone a proper cleaning. As a result, the blocks had a very dark appearance and were heavily covered in moss. After assessing the condition, I provided her with a quote, and she immediately decided to proceed, requesting that the work be done as soon as possible.

I offered to complete the job the next day, as my schedule allowed, and she was delighted. Early Friday morning, I arrived on-site to begin the transformation. Cleaning this type of patio required a three-step process:

1. Pressure Washing
   The first step was to use industrial-grade pressure washing to remove dirt, moss, algae, and any other stubborn grime that had accumulated over the years. This revealed the hidden beauty of the block paving underneath the layers of discolouration.

2. Detergent Treatment
   Next, I applied a professional cleaning detergent to the surface. This step not only enhanced the cleaning process but also ensured that any remaining moss or algae was completely eradicated.

A lovely lady contacted me to schedule an appointment for a driveway cleaning. During our afternoon meeting, I had the chance to assess the driveway, which was heavily covered in moss, algae, and various stains. The following day, I re-sanded the block paving joints using clean dried sand, giving the driveway a fresh, like-new appearance. Now, the family can enjoy a beautifully restored driveway together!
