A Heartwarming Transformation: Restoring an Elderly Lady’s Patio

Last Thursday afternoon, I received a call from a lovely elderly lady enquiring about cleaning her driveway. During our phone conversation, I mentioned that I was already working in her area and could provide a quote for her patio cleaning later that day. She agreed, and upon arriving at her property, I was warmly greeted as she showed me her patio.

She explained that it hadn’t been cleaned in over 15 years. Although weedkiller had been used, the block paving had never undergone a proper cleaning. As a result, the blocks had a very dark appearance and were heavily covered in moss. After assessing the condition, I provided her with a quote, and she immediately decided to proceed, requesting that the work be done as soon as possible.

I offered to complete the job the next day, as my schedule allowed, and she was delighted. Early Friday morning, I arrived on-site to begin the transformation. Cleaning this type of patio required a three-step process:

1. Pressure Washing
   The first step was to use industrial-grade pressure washing to remove dirt, moss, algae, and any other stubborn grime that had accumulated over the years. This revealed the hidden beauty of the block paving underneath the layers of discolouration.

2. Detergent Treatment
   Next, I applied a professional cleaning detergent to the surface. This step not only enhanced the cleaning process but also ensured that any remaining moss or algae was completely eradicated.

3. Re-Sanding
   The following day, I returned to complete the final step. To stabilise the block paving and prevent the growth of weeds, I used clean, dry sand to fill the gaps between the blocks. This finishing touch left the patio looking immaculate and as good as new.

The results were stunning. The customer was astonished by how vibrant and colourful her driveway looked once more. She admitted she had forgotten how beautiful it was!

The customer was extremely pleased with the outcome, so much so that she assured me she would be booking my services again next year. It was incredibly rewarding to see her satisfaction and to know that the driveway she hadn’t enjoyed in years was now a source of pride.
